Mud Pies for Dinner

I started this blog to embarrass my children. That is my number one goal. If you are entertained in the meantime…great.

My Baby Died: The First Time I Laughed Again

My Baby Died: The First Time I Laughed Again

I’m not sure how many days after we buried Toni Camille that Anthony went back to work but it was much too soon for me.  That morning was like any other morning since she died. My eyes popped open just before 5 a.m.  I didn’t want to disturb Anthony so I eased quietly out of bed.   To say that the quietness of the early morning was deafening would be an understatement.   I had to remind myself that I did not have to maneuver around Toni’s bassinet because it  … Read More »

Beyonce’, Donald and the Super Bowl: Blame Dr. Seuss

This Sunday, my whole family sat down together and watched the Super Bowl.  No matter whether we were individually supporting the Broncos or the Panthers, the things we could all agree on were the good commercials, the bad commercials and what we thought of Coldplay. The complexity of the messages and symbolism that were Beyoncé’s performance and the obvious need to help our children understand the strong reactions that came afterward were a beast to handle.  Television, radio and the internet … Read More »

9 Things I Will Tell My Daughters About Valentine’s Day.

In a few short days Valentine’s Day will be here. If you have teen and tween daughters, get ready for drama. Think about when you were that age and hoping you would get a Valentine’s Day gift from the boy you swore would be your husband. After all, you practiced writing his last name with yours 1,000 times so you were practically engaged. Remember sending out your spies to find out if he’s going to get you something? It didn’t really matter what they said as long as there was one little … Read More »

I didn’t use meds when I delivered my baby…or Did I?

I didn’t use meds when I delivered my baby…or Did I?

Every mother has been a part of those conversations. You know the ones. You’re sitting next to a mother with a big, juicy, chunky baby and you compliment her on how big, juicy, and chunky the baby is and then she proudly tells you that she delivered the baby naturally with no medication…and he was NINE POUNDS at birth. The hell YOU say!   Then, she proceeds to tell her birthing story. Now, unless you have delivered a bigger baby or delivered your baby in the wilderness, she has just … Read More »

About Me

About the Mother

Welcome to my blog.  I am a busy mother of three girls, one boy, and one little angel in Heaven.  I am also an attorney and wife to a wonderful man who deals patiently with my "quirky" view on motherhood.  I say "quirky" while others say "crazy."  Either way you look at it, I plan on making it through this motherhood thing without  my children making me old before my time.  Even if no one else reads this blog, I know that my children will and they will be embarrassed.  The mere thought makes my heart warm.  :-)  Don't judge
